Comments: Hello, everybody, and welcome to the shiny new Stuck In My Skull! This week is going to be jam-packed full of awesome, all hosted on this site for your viewing and listening pleasure! You might notice that instead of "Entry 306," today's post is labelled "Stuck In My Skull 306." That's to keep our columns neatly labelled and separated. Yes, I said columns. Both Miriah's and Amanda's columns are publishing today, bringing you three times the variety!  I'll leave it to them to explain how and when they're going to run.

Today's song is a deadmau5 (pronounced "Dead Mouse," if you're unfamiliar with him) classic. Heads up, though-- the video posted has some flashing lights in it. Deadmau5 being his usual, abrasive self, he felt the need to complicate things and post a version of the song called "Moar Ghosts N Whatever" (first video) that is identical to the version called "Moar Ghosts N Stuff" (the link below the video), and to top it off, neither on of those has the same intro that Deadmau5 used on his album version of the song. Personally, I like this way a little better, so I decided to feature it instead. If you're curious to see the alternate intro, check the second link for an album version. I'm fairly sure he only used that version to make the album flow, but whatever. Enjoy the song, and welcome to the new Stuck In My Skull!

Entry 283-- "We Will Rock You" with Major Milestone and Announcement!

Comments: Wow. Dude. Seriously. This thing is working? For real? Apparently it is. I've pinched myself, slapped myself, restarted my computer, and had someone else come look at it too, and it's not changing. (Actually, not really. I just did a double-take.) The hit counter... reads over 5000.
I'm going to try and keep my head attached and functioning properly, so I don't look like the person in this comic, drooling into a stupor, or this person, exploding into rainbows. I am ridiculously thrilled by this. To top it off, I have even more good news-- keep an eye on the blog, because soon Miriah and Amanda will be writing more, and launching their own columns!
I really don't know what commentary I can give on this song. It's a classic, and it fits this blog so well. If you come, we will try our level best to rock you. Enjoy the song!

Comments: I originally ran into Lindsey Stirling when I was slumming around for material for Tour of Techno Week, if I recall-- her "dubstep violin" came up on my radar, and very nearly made it into the slot for dubstep. Lindsey Stirling is a freakishly talented violinist and a talented dancer. She has an energy that radiates through the screen to the audience, and infects them with her vibrant spirit. Having heard many a cover of Phantom of the Opera, I can say that not only is this one of-- if not the-- best, but it's a fantastic medley. This song is very much worth a listen, and the video is a captivating watch. Check it out! (click to read more)

Comments: Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Trance. Trance is a subgenre of techno, "...characterized by a tempo of between 125 and 150 beats per minute, repeating melodic phrases, and a musical form that builds up and down throughout a track..." according to Wikipedia, and it is one of my two pet genres, the other being symphonic metal. Tiesto has long been one of the leading trance producers, and has won the DJ Mag top 100 several times, and is generally amazing. Despite his recent trend towards electro and house, Tiesto's trance tracks are still exceptional pieces of music. The first song ever featured on this blog was a trance remix by Tiesto, in fact. Check this song out, and if you like it, please, go looking for more. Hopefully you enjoyed this week, and with a little luck, you found some new music. Entry 193-- Soundtrack Week, Part 1: "Otherworld" (and Site Update!)

Comments: It's a crazy day today on the blog! First and foremost, welcome to Soundtrack Week! To open things up, a song from the game that sparked my love of an entire of genre of games, Final Fantasy X. FFX was my first Final Fantasy game, and years later, I remember watching this scene with my jaw hanging open and my heart pounding. There's a popular misconception that the vocals in the song were performed by Rammstein-- this is not true. The soundtrack to this game was done mostly by Nobuo Uematsu, who composed the scores for most of the games in this series. Both the song and the scene are excellent. Enjoy!

As for the site update, there're a couple of changes. First, I made a few tweaks to some of the gadgets and such on the site. Secondly, I'm proud to announce we now have a Facebook "Like" button, which you should all go and click, so you can get updates and other fun stuff! And last but not least, I'm in the process of trying to get Amanda and Miriah added as authors, so you can more easily tell who wrote what. Come back tomorrow to see how it all looks!

Entry 154-- "Dancing Shoes" and Site Update!

 Comments: Well, yesterday was supposed to be the start of a theme week, but I completely dropped the ball and forgot to post. I really don't want to cut a theme week down to four entries, so I'm going to push it back until next week. For today, the Dev song "Dancing Shoes." While not as catchy as some of the songs I post here, I really like this song. First and foremost, the message is just heart-warming. More importantly, I look at a song like this, and think that Dev is evolving as an artist. I honestly think she's come a long way from "Bass Down Low."

As far as the site update goes, it's not so much an update as an announcement. As of a few days ago, Stuck In My Skull reached a milestone-- 1500 hits! Entry 140-- "Turn Me On" and Site Update!

Comments:
First, the site update. You probably noticed that instead of just a link, I left a video embedded in this post-- a function of Blogger I'd never thought to use until now. I'm going to play around with that until it works well and looks good. Any input is appreciated.

And now for the song. The latest release from David Guetta (I think he's trying for some awards or something, with this many singles...), featuring Nicki Minaj. I'm torn on this song-- I love 80% of it, and I'm only "meh" about the other 20%, which happens to be the part where Ms. Minaj is rapping. When she sings, she's pretty decent. For what it's worth, I could see her being mistaken for sounding like Rihanna in the chorus (starts 0:54),  and it's quite excellent. At 2:46, she loses me until about 3:01. I suspect it will eventually grow on me, but I think the song would have been just fine without that break in it. In all fairness, I'm probably still baised against Nicki Minaj because of her latest release, "Stupid Hoe," which I do not like, and frankly find rather annoying. Given time, I would write out a long, reasoned argument on why this song is objectively bad as opposed to me just subjectively disliking it, and I might, but for the moment, I'll let it go.

Comments: Happy Monday, everybody! This song is one I recently discovered when I was trying to diversify my tastes in trance-- I'm a notorious Tiesto addict, and Armin seemed like as good of a place as any to start. In this number, Armin provides the beats while Christian Burns (a name Tiesto fans will recognize from the song "In the Dark") provides the vocals. A good (and catchy) song-- check it out!
In other news, the posting schedule of this blog has changed slightly! I am pleased to announce that content will now be posted earlier in the day! Comments: I love this song. A friend of mine (you know who you are) showed me this song awhile back, and I fell in love with it.  The song has a sort of Mediterranean sound to it, which I find wholly appropriate to the video. The beat is catchy, the lyrics are epic, and the song as a whole is great. Check it out.

So, yesterday this blog reached 200 hits! That's an amazing milestone, and I can't thank you guys enough. At this point, I've basically decided that I'm going to try and update the blog every weekday, so this will be the last Saturday post, and no post tomorrow. Also, I'm going to do my friends a favor and quit spamming Facebook every time I post. Basically, bookmark this blog and make sure to check it every weekday! Comments: I originally heard this song being performed on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and endeavored without success to find a video of that perfomance. Don't get me wrong, the music video is well done and moving, but it fails to give me chills the same Ms. Perri's voice did the first time I heard this song. Well, as many chills, anyway.

In unrelated news, I added a search bar to the site, so if you're looking for something in particular, you can quickly see if I have it-- I've tried to tag every entry with at least the artist name and song title, so searching should be easier.
