Entry 114-- "One (Your Name)"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, December 30, 2011 | 11:58 AM

Song: "One (Your Name)"
Artist: Swedish House Mafia feat Pharrell
http://youtu.be/PkQ5rEJaTmk
Comments: Another gift from an amazing person-- you know who you are-- that keeps getting itself lodged firmly in my skull. This song is epic on so many levels. I would have liked to have sat down and done a thoughtful, meaningful post for the final post of 2011, but this is late enough as it is. I'll try and throw together a post to wrap up the year tomorrow. As far as the song goes, it is epic. As far as the video goes... the keyboard-thing in the beginning? If it exists, (which I doubt,) I want it.

Entry 113-- "Amaranth"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, December 29, 2011 | 11:33 AM

Song: "Amaranth"
Artist: Nightwish
http://youtu.be/GdZn7k5rZLQ
Comments: "Amaranth" is a wonderful proof by demonstration of a variety of different ideas I hold about symphonic metal as a genre and music in general. One-- new isn't bad. (No, I don't wish to get into the "new" Nightwish versus "old" Nightwish debate over vocalists.) Two-- music videos can be art. Three-- metal requires crazy hair, no exceptions. Actually, the last one is mostly a joke, not a serious allegation, but it usually holds. More to the point, this song is wonderful-- take a listen!

Entry 112-- "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 | 8:14 AM

Song: "I Just Don't Know What To Do"
Artist: The White Stripes
http://youtu.be/Snyxh8PtYkQ
Comments: Sorry for the missed posts, folks. Hopefully everyone enjoyed their holiday of choice-- I know I did. Moving right along. This is an old song that's currently stuck in my head. Good old Jack White's voice is distinct-- when paired with Meg White, there's no mistaking what duo you're listening to. Enjoy!

Entry 111-- Heart Week, Part 5: "Fight for You"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, December 23, 2011 | 10:22 AM

<3 Week, Part 5
Song: "Fight For You"
Artist: Jason Derulo
http://youtu.be/pV36OEBWRvU
Comments: Well, here we are, wrapping up <3 Week. So far as I can tell, this song hasn't gotten much notice yet. I've yet to hear it on the radio, and as far as I can tell, it hasn't charted yet, but that's irrelevant. This song speaks for itself. I love you, and I will fight for you. <3!

Entry 110-- Heart Week, Part 4: "Who'd Have Known"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, December 22, 2011 | 9:40 AM

<3 Week, Part 4
Song: "Who'd Have Known"
Artist: Lily Allen
http://youtu.be/XMTSsKhiBUA
Comments: No, T-Pain's "5'O Clock" did not come first, YouTube commenters. This song was first, and for the purposes of <3 Week, quite a bit better. I'll let the lyrics talk for me. "Who'da known, who'da known / When you flash up on my phone / I'd no longer feel alone / No longer feel alone." <3!

Entry 109-- Heart Week, Part 3: "You Da One"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 | 8:52 AM

<3 Week, Part 3
Song: "You Da One"
Artist: Rihanna
http://youtu.be/2iAczjvLoi8
Comments: And <3 Week continues! This song says it all. "You are the one that I dream about all day / You are the one that I think about all day." Approaching this more musically, the song is easy to listen to, uptempo but not fast, and if my ears aren't deceiving me, has a hint of dubstep around 2:32. Anyone else noticing a trend towards dubstep-y beats in pop songs? I'll find examples of that for some other post. Anyway. There's supposedly an official video in the works for this song; I'll post it if/when it happens. To the one that I love, <3!

*edit: Finally got the titles working for this week. Oh well, I guess it will have to be "Heart Week" instead of "<3 Week" in the post titles. So be it-- the meaning is the same.
*edit 1/8/12: Well, the official video happened awhile ago, and I kept neglecting to post it. Here it is, but frankly, I don't like it. It makes the song sexual and not in the least bit romantic... http://youtu.be/b3HeLs8Yosw

Entry 108-- Heart Week, Part 2: "I Belong To You (+Mon Coeur S'ouvre A Ta Voix)"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 | 8:12 AM

<3 Week, Part 2
Song: "I Belong To You (+Mon Coeur S'ouvre A Ta Voix)"
Artist: Muse
http://youtu.be/IgH7XF_l-VE
Comments: And <3 Week continues! For this one, the English half of the title more than explains everything. The song is beautiful, (like you, [Sorry, couldn't resist,]) and moving. I've looked up a translation for the French part of the lyrics before, but I admit I don't remember what they say. It was something romantic, though. Enjoy the song!

*edit: Apparently blogger just doesn't like my titles this week. Oh well, so be it.
*edit 12/21/11: Got the titles working!

Entry 107-- Heart Week, Part 1: "Ass Back Home"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, December 19, 2011 | 11:35 AM

<3 Week, Part 1
Song: "Ass Back Home"
Artist: Gym Class Heroes featuring Neon Hitch
http://youtu.be/Aw80GYzWUIk
Comments: Many apologies for the missed entry Friday. As a small consolation, I bring an update about Entry 94-- the official video for the song has been released. It can be found here: http://youtu.be/vjIwmJMqrco
This week is because I am apart from the one I love. She knows it, and before we separated, tossed me this song. The song is adorable, sweet, and exactly what the doctor ordered. You know who you are. This week's for you. <3

*edit: Not sure why the title to this isn't working.
*edit 12/21/11: Got the titles working!

Entry 106: "Phenomenon"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, December 15, 2011 | 12:08 PM

Song: "Phenomenon"
Artist: Thousand Foot Krutch
http://youtu.be/YtE-rNLgyl8
Comments: Sorry for the lack of post yesterday and the lateness of today's; I was travelling yesterday and recovering today. Thousand Foot Krutch, like Skillet and a select few others, is a more-or-less religious band that's accessible to more than just a religious audience. I ran into Thousand Foot Krutch awhile back, and really enjoyed this song. I hope you enjoy it!

Entry 105-- "Jump Around"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 | 4:39 AM

Song: "Jump Around"
Artist: House of Pain
http://youtu.be/U9Q0jPyrja0
Comments: As my friends can attest, this song has been stuck in my head way too much lately. It's catchy, upbeat, and lodged in my cranium harder than any song has been in a long, long time. The music video to this song has an intro of about 20 seconds that I haven't heard before, but the rest of the song seems to be the same. There is some name confusion on this song; I believe the artist Everlast was performing under the name/band House of Pain when they released this song. Enjoy the song and, *offbeat* Jump! Jump! Jump! Jump!

Entry 104-- "Sharp Dressed Man"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, December 12, 2011 | 9:58 AM

Song: "Sharp Dressed Man"
Artist: ZZ Top
http://youtu.be/Pn2-b_opVTo
Comments: After I posted in Entry 100 about my distinct lack of ZZ Top, my friend Amanda promptly sent me this song, and now I have to admit, I know some good ZZ Top. The song is catchy and excellent, and I almost called off Pop Week to post this the day I got it. Enjoy the song, and thanks Amanda!

Entry 103- Pop Week, Part 4: "Without You"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, December 9, 2011 | 5:09 AM

Pop Week, Part 4
Song: "Without You"
Arist: David Guetta featuring Usher
http://youtu.be/jUe8uoKdHao
Comments: I don't know what's with David Guetta and altering the planet in his music videos, but after spinning the globe around in his video to "Little Bad Girl," he's rearranging the continents in this one. "Without You" is sitting at number 21 on the YouTube Music charts and number 7 on the Billboard, and is getting played every other song on the radio, it seems like. Anyway, this wraps up Pop Week. Hope you all enjoyed it, and enjoy your weekend!

Entry 102- Pop Week, Part 3: "Moves Like Jagger"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, December 8, 2011 | 8:28 AM

Pop Week, Part 3
Song: "Moves Like Jagger"
Artist: Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera
http://youtu.be/iEPTlhBmwRg (music video)
http://youtu.be/suRsxpoAc5w (lyric video)
Comments: Currently sitting at number 7 on YouTube Music and number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, "Moves Like Jagger" is a catchy song that marks Maroon 5's first real production of something danceable and club-worthy. I keep hearing this song popping up both on the radio for easy listening and at parties, and there's a good reason for it-- the song is excellent. Enjoy!

Also, this blog broke 800 hits yesterday. Thanks again to my amazing readers!

Entry 101- Pop Week, Part 2: "We Found Love"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 | 7:37 AM

Pop Week, Part 2
Song: "We Found Love"
Artist: Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris
http://youtu.be/tg00YEETFzg (NSFW)
http://youtu.be/GchEVSx9XEA (Audio)
Comments: Currently number one on the Billboard top 100 and number three on YouTube music, "We Found Love" is Rihanna's latest single. The video for it borders on Not Safe For Work, so I've included a link to an audio-only video. The song is quite good, and exceptionally catchy-- the chorus keeps getting stuck in my head. Enjoy!

Entry 100!

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 | 12:10 PM

Well, this is the 100th entry on this humble blog. To mark the occasion, I thought I'd share a list of the songs that I truly love. Some of them might have received an entry here already, and some might still get one. I've decided to put them alphabetically by artist, and just for chuckles, to see if I can find one for each letter of the English alphabet. Some letters might have more than one band, depending on how indecisive I am. Hopefully I'll be able to find an artist for each letter.

============================================
Well, despite my abysmal performance in the last three letters of the alphabet, I came up with artists and songs I love for 23 of 26 letters. That's 88.46%-- a B+ in some grading scales, and a fairly respectable amount. I meant to continue Pop Week today, but I decided this would be a better use of this milestone entry.
And what a milestone it is. At time of writing, this blog has 793 hits. Wow. Call me Taylor Swift, but I am so surprised and so grateful to you, my audience, and I can't thank you enough. Looking forward, I think I'll start trying new things. Maybe I'll write about more than just whatever happens to be stuck in my head at the moment. Stuck In My Skull is as much a blog about what I'm listening to and what I think is good music as it is about music in general. Maybe I'll try and advertise a bit, get a bigger audience. Maybe I'll get other writers to contribute to this blog. We'll see.
As always, enjoy the music, and if you have a song you want to share, let me hear about it!

Entry 99-- Pop Week, Part 1: "Sexy and I Know It"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, December 5, 2011 | 4:36 AM

Pop Week, Part 1
Song: "Sexy and I Know It"
Artist: LMFAO
http://youtu.be/wyx6JDQCslE (NSFW)
http://youtu.be/zh7xnEODJK8 (Lyric video)
Comments: Welcome to Pop Week, my excuse to sit down with a top 100 chart and enjoy it. Starting our week off-- "Sexy and I Know It." Currently #1 on the YouTube music charts and #2 on the Billboard Top 100, "Sexy and I Know It" is the latest hit from the fiendish geniuses that brought you "Party Rock Anthem." Fair warning-- NSFW stands for "Not Safe For Work," something that the first link definitely needs to be labelled. About the song itself-- it's catchy, and won't let you go.

Entry 98-- "I Write Sins Not Tragedies"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, December 2, 2011 | 5:00 AM

Song: "I Write Sins Not Tragedies"
Artist: Panic! at the Disco
http://youtu.be/vc6vs-l5dkc
Comments: To be quite honest, I have Muse's "Glorious" stuck in my head this morning. However, when I opened youtube, this song was sitting on the recommended list, so I decided, why not? This song is catchy-- I have a friend of mine (Katelyn) to thank for introducing me to it, and the band. As if to prove the point-- in the time it has taken me to type this post, the song is now stuck in my head. Enjoy the weekend!

Entry 97-- "Hello Seattle"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, December 1, 2011 | 7:30 AM

Song: "Hello Seattle"
Artist: Owl City
http://youtu.be/_VlK2BOhmvU
Comments: I find listening to Owl City to be a calming experience, one that always leaves me with a smile. His songs are melodic, enjoyable, and easy to listen to. They relax me, and bring a little drop of calm to even the most chaotic of days. Hopefully you enjoy the song!

Entry 96-- "Shiver"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 | 5:01 AM

Song: "Shiver"
Artist: Coldplay
http://youtu.be/LpwW4iraV3Q
Comments: As it's nice and cold this morning, I decided to post Coldplay's "Shiver" for the occasion. Oddly enough, the lyrics (if I remember them correctly) have nothing to do with the temperature. Nevertheless, a nice, upbeat song to start the morning. Enjoy!

Entry 95-- "Slow Burn"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 | 7:00 AM

Song: "Slow Burn"
Artist: Atreyu
http://youtu.be/SHgeCifBHrs
Comments: I woke up this morning with this song stuck in my head. It's got a really catchy piano intro that I'm rather fond of, and despite being closer to screamo than I usually listen to, I really like this song. Hopefully you enjoy it to.

Entry 94-- "The Hardest Ever"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, November 28, 2011 | 4:32 AM

Song: "The Hardest Ever"
Artist: Will.I.Am feat. Jennifer Lopez, Mick Jagger
http://youtu.be/Q6N_cc6E66U
Comments: Sorry about the week with no posts, folks. While I wasn't posting, the American Music Awards happened, and Will.I.Am preformed this song for the first time. It's shiny new, and altogether shiny. Enjoy the song!

Update, 12/19/11: The official video for this song was released a week ago: http://youtu.be/vjIwmJMqrco

Entry 93-- "Our Truth"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, November 18, 2011 | 4:25 AM

Song: "Our Truth"
Artist: Lacuna Coil
http://youtu.be/SB9LXpO6yWo
Comments: Thank you, Guitar Hero, for showing me this song all those years ago. Lacuna Coil is (according to wikipedia) a gothic/alternative metal band, though I'm not quite sure if I agree with that. Alternative metal, maybe, but not so much gothic metal. As 'rock' gets harder and 'metal' gets softer (with the obvious exceptions of power, speed, death, and similar sub-genres of metal), the difference between them is increasingly blurred. At this point, I'd have to call this song hard rock, or at best, alternative metal. That would be an interesting post, actually-- a sort of editorial on the changes of the genres... But I digress. The song is amazing, and you should check it out. Enjoy your weekend!

(My plans for the coming holiday week are a little up in the air-- hopefully I'll be able to post, but I may well end up on a week-long hiatus.)

Entry 92-- "Impend"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 | 4:28 AM

Song: "Impend"
Artist: Martin O'Donnell
http://youtu.be/zk9ViH4KwSU
Comments: Proving my status as a complete and total nerd, this song is taken from the Halo 2 soundtrack. It's an instrumental piece with a good beat, and I honestly am considering trying to spin this into a club mix. Enjoy the song!

Entry 91-- "We Are Winning"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 | 9:22 AM

Song: "We Are Winning"
Artist: Flobots
http://youtu.be/3TXzkR1mv28
Comments: First, sorry for the lateness of this post. Also, this will probably be the last Flobots song for awhile-- I've been hitting them too much. In my defense, a friend of mine recently gave me two albums of theirs, and while I don't generally like things that are this politically charged, it's good music, and keeps getting stuck in my head. That, and the lyrics are well written and meaningful, something I don't see enough of. I will always support songs that get you thinking, and politics notwithstanding, this song definitely does.

Entry 90-- "My Manic and I"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, November 14, 2011 | 4:57 AM

Song: "My Manic and I"
Artist: Laura Marling
http://youtu.be/MT2Qu6ct2ak
Comments: Long ago, my friend Abbey showed me this song, and after quoting a line from it earlier this morning, I got it stuck in my head. Laura Marling is a folk artist with a distinctive, narrative sort of song that I rather enjoy, and hopefully you will too.

Entry 89-- "Fever for the Flava (NFS Version)"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, November 11, 2011 | 4:29 AM

Song: "Fever for the Flava (NFS Version)"
Artist: Hot Action Cop
http://youtu.be/n2H2-AqWv1A
Comments: Ages ago, I had a game called "Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2." Years later, I find myself remembering random songs from the soundtrack, one of which is this song. This version has different lyrics than the original song, but I like it nonetheless. It doesn't bother me, because I call this song a different version than the original, as opposed to a censored version, which would bother me quite a bit more. But that's beyond the point-- enjoy the song, and have a good weekend!

Entry 88-- "All of the Lights"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, November 10, 2011 | 10:26 AM

Song: "All of the Lights"
Artist: Kanye West ft. Rihanna, Kid Cudi
http://youtu.be/jjDdGKBhTuo (lyrics)
http://youtu.be/HAfFfqiYLp0 (Official Video - Epilepsy Warning)
Comments: Sorry for the late entry. This song definitely sounds like it has significantly more people than just Kanye, Rihanna, and Kid Cudi in it, but those three are the only ones listed. More and more, it feels like I'm noticing unlisted or uncredited artists in songs, and it's beginning to bother me... But enough about that. "All of the Lights" has been stuck in my head all day. The horns and drums in this song make it stand out from contemporary songs of the genre, and make it catchy. Take a listen.

A cautionary note-- the epilepsy warning on the official video is serious. If flashing lights give you seizures, do NOT click that link.

*Edit: I went looking for more info on the song, and as it turns out, there are significantly more than three people involved in this song. Wikipedia's image of the album cover for the single shows a whole list of people. Also, I am twice the fool. I clicked on the "show more" button on youtube, and it does in fact list the additional vocalists: "All Of The Lights" by Kanye West feat. Rihanna and Kid Cudi with vocals by Fergie, Charlie Wilson, John Legend, Tony Williams, Alicia Keys, La Roux, The Dream, Ryan Leslie, Alvin Fields and Ken Lewis.

Entry 87-- "Sofi Needs a Ladder"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 | 4:27 AM

Song: "Sofi Needs a Ladder"
Artist: deadmau5
http://youtu.be/gDndZn0YPdI
Comments: This is another one of those songs where I'm not sure why it's not written as _____ featuring ______-- in this case, deadmau5 featuring SOFI. The song is deadmau5's "You Need a Ladder" with vocals by Sofia Toufa (SOFI), and I'm not at all sure why she isn't featured in the official title. But that's beyond the point. The point is the song is quite excellent, I think. Catchy beat, witty lyrics, and keeps getting stuck in my head. At this rate, it'll get more time in my skull than the current champion, "Stereo Hearts."

Entry 86-- "Good Life"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 | 7:09 AM

Song: "Good Life"
Artist: OneRepublic
http://youtu.be/jZhQOvvV45w
Comments: While the artist may have woken up in London yesterday, I merely woke up with this song stuck in my head. The beat is catchy, the tempo mellow, and the whistling a tune that everybody seems to know. Enjoy the song!

Entry 85-- "High Voltage"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, November 7, 2011 | 4:24 AM

Song: "High Voltage"
Artist: Linkin Park
http://youtu.be/ZAcPHtgN9TY
Comments: I always forget what (if any) album this song came from, but this song is old by Linkin Park standards, and doesn't sound like they have for quite awhile. Old Linkin Park is an unusual sound, and I feel as though they were experimenting with their style in this song. Whatever the reason for the sound, I like it, and hopefully you will too.

Entry 84-- "Stereo Hearts"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, November 4, 2011 | 4:25 AM

Song: "Stereo Hearts"
Artist: Gym Class Heroes ft. Adam Levine
http://youtu.be/T3E9Wjbq44E
Comments: I got this song stuck in my head thanks to a certain Miriah. This song is quite excellent, and I thoroughly recommend taking a listen. Have a good weekend!

Entry 83-- "Image of the Invisible"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, November 3, 2011 | 7:33 AM

Song: "Image of the Invisible"
Artist: Thrice
http://youtu.be/UbAjxltPmuI
Comments: This song and I have a history. I originally saw it wandering the internet as a quasi-political viral(ish) video, just a message set to this song. I fell in love with the song, and went looking for the the rest of it. Frankly, songs like these make me wonder why stadiums use stuff like "Boom Boom Pow" as fight songs-- yeah, they're good songs, but there are so much better, with so much more adrenaline. Enjoy the song!

Entry 82-- "Everything Went Numb"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 | 5:04 AM

Song: "Everything Went Numb"
Artist: Streetlight Manifesto
http://youtu.be/xo76ijhUqjE
Comments: This song gets stuck in my head with frightening regularity. It isn't today, but since I've already posted the song that's actually stuck in my head this morning, I picked a song, and here it is. Enjoy!

Entry 81-- "Stand Up"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 | 9:08 AM

Song: "Stand Up"
Artist: Flobots
http://youtu.be/FdF-YkECTVc
Comments: I happened upon this song last night, and fell in love with it. The song feels revolutionary and galvanising, and is probably going to become the soundtrack of my skull for awhile. Enjoy!

Entry 80-- "Thriller"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, October 31, 2011 | 4:59 AM

Song: "Thriller"
Artist: Michael Jackson
http://youtu.be/sOnqjkJTMaA
Comments: Happy Halloween, everyone! To celebrate the day, I thought I'd post "Thriller" for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy the day, and stay safe, folks!

Entry 79-- "Umbrella"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, October 28, 2011 | 6:33 AM

Song: "Umbrella"
Artist: All Time Low
http://youtu.be/Y25SgIwy2BE
Comments: Sorry for another missed post, folks. To round out the (incomplete) week, this cover of Rihanna's "Umbrella" by All Time Low. This song came up on Pandora, and I couldn't resist posting it here. Enjoy, and have a good weekend!

Entry 78-- "Take it Off (Billboard Remix)"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 | 5:00 AM

Song: "Take it Off (Billboard Remix)"
Artist: Ke$ha
http://youtu.be/mrcG2PAga5s
Comments: Sorry for the lack of a post yesterday, folks. Blame a lack of sleep. Today, a remix of Ke$ha's "Take it Off." It's pretty good-- check it out!

Entry 77-- "Monsoon"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, October 24, 2011 | 4:36 AM

Song: "Monsoon"
Artist: Tokio Hotel
http://youtu.be/Le_IyYLrUtQ
Comments: Years ago when I first encuntered Tokio Hotel, I really liked the band. For a period after that, I didn't, and now I do again. If you prefer the song in German (the original version), it's here: http://youtu.be/S_Sy5-sOodA

Entry 76-- Young Lions

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, October 21, 2011 | 4:25 AM

Song: "Young Lions"
Artist: Tiesto
http://youtu.be/m-6KIsLYDIQ
Comments: I cannot get enough of this song; just hearing it makes me want to stand up and dance. And I'm pleased to say, if you like it, it's a free download. Enjoy the music, and have a good weekend!

Entry 75-- "Build Your Cages"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, October 20, 2011 | 4:29 AM

Song: "Build Your Cages"
Artist: Pulse Ultra
http://youtu.be/9IDEzxmuH4Y
Comments: I always get the first verses of this song stuck in my head, and forget the rest of it. To fix the problem, I went and listened to the whole thing a few times, and now I get the whole song stuck in my head. Problem solved.

Entry 74-- "Spies"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 | 4:29 AM

Song: "Spies"
Artist: Coldplay
http://youtu.be/9QzDHPcNfrw
Comments: This song is one of the slightly more obscure tracks from Coldplay's "Parachutes" album, which completely mystifies me. I suspect if they re-released it now, it'd be a chart topper, but I digress. Enjoy!

Entry 73-- "Animal"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 | 4:41 AM

Song: "Animal"
Artist: Ke$ha
http://youtu.be/RDPNGX6UMl8
Comments: Glitter and rainbows. This song is more artistic than most of Ke$ha's, less party-centric, and generally more artistic. I'm frankly too tired to write anything more-- just go watch it.

Entry 72-- "The People That We Love"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, October 17, 2011 | 4:36 AM

Song: "The People That We Love"
Artist: Bush
http://youtu.be/ytVyzMp5KAg
Comments: Happy Monday, everyone! I first ran into this song playing a video game years ago, and thought it was pretty awesome. It's a good adrenaline song, and fairly catchy. Bush has a unique sound that I've decided I'm fond of, and hopefully one that you'll enjoy.

Entry 71-- Symphonic Metal Week, Part 5: "Ghost Opera" - Kamelot

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, October 14, 2011 | 6:55 AM

Symphonic Metal Week, Part 5
Song: "Ghost Opera"
Artist: Kamelot
http://youtu.be/J-TUufvK0gU
Comments: Kamelot was one of the first (symphonic) 'metal' bands I really liked, and I feel like it's a fitting tribute to the band that sparked my love of a genre to end with one of their songs."Ghost Opera" is one of their more symphonic pieces, so I decided to use it instead of the less symphonic song "Forever," which happens to be the first song of theirs I heard. Enjoy the song, and have a good weekend!

Entry 70-- Symphonic Metal Week, Parts 3 and 4

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, October 13, 2011 | 6:37 AM

Symphonic Metal Week, Parts 3 and 4
Song 1: "Bless the Child"
Artist: Nightwish
http://youtu.be/8Pjh0visgJI
Comments: Sorry for the lack of a post yesterday, folks. To make it up to you all, two songs today! The first one is by Nightwish featuring their original vocalist, Tarja Turunen, who sounds nothing like this their new vocalist (Anette Olzon). (I mention this because the debate over the comparative merits of the vocalists regularly ignites youtube comment threads into flame wars, and is quite heated.) I have heard this song described in terms similar to a very good movie soundtrack. Go listen!

Song 2: "Our Solemn Hour"
Artist: Within Temptation
http://youtu.be/JwWRUVVadQg
Comments: And after you listen to that song, take a listen to this one. Slightly less cinematic, this song has (if I hear this correctly) a full orchestra and chorus behind the metallic instrumentation. This song blew me away when I heard it-- hopefully it will rock your world too.

Entry 69-- Symphonic Metal Week, Part 2: "The Phantom Agony"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 | 4:49 AM

Symphonic Metal Week, Part 2
Song: "The Phantom Agony"
Artist: Epica
http://youtu.be/UAlRf9qf9d0
Comments: Welcome back to symphonic metal week! Today's song literally has a full chorus and at least a string section playing in front of a typical metal arrangement of guitars and drums, led by the wonderful mezzo-soprano vocals of Simone Simmons. Symphonic metal is a small world, and Ms. Simmons keeps popping up in unexpected places, especially in Kamelot songs. I'll try and post one of those this week. Enjoy the song!

Entry 68-- Symphonic Metal Week, Part 1: "Dark Moor"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, October 10, 2011 | 4:45 AM

Symphonic Metal Week, Part 1
Song: "Dark Moor"
Artist: Dark Moor
http://youtu.be/tYSvdmOajzY
Comments: I've just decided that this week is Symphonic Metal Week, to promote one of my favourite genres. To open the week, Dark Moor's eponymous song. Also, this song goes out to Emily, who just fell in love with this band. Enjoy!

Entry 67-- "Don't Trust Me"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, October 7, 2011 | 5:01 AM

Song: "Don't Trust Me"
Artist: 3!Oh3
http://youtu.be/GSjlxbxAymM
Comments: I rolled out of bed this morning, and this was stuck in my head. An hour and a half, it's still stuck in my head. It's Friday, the weekend is coming, and it's party time, and this is a party song to match. Enjoy the weekend!

Entry 66-- "Glorious"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, October 6, 2011 | 4:59 AM

Song: "Glorious"
Artist: Muse
http://youtu.be/5z7rOwUZBB0
Comments: I woke up this morning with this song stuck in my head, and decided to pass it along. This is one of the less well-known songs by Muse. If I remember correctly, it came as a bonus track on one of their albums-- "Black Holes and Revelations," I think. Enjoy!

Entry 65-- "Ghost Love Score"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 | 4:28 AM

Song: "Ghost Love Score"
Artist: Nightwish
http://youtu.be/0VF0BlXP-0Y
Comments: Sorry about the lack of a post yesterday, guys. I got something like four hours of sleep, and was sso busy that I completely forgot. In return, long, epic song! "Ghost Love Score" is a rolling, ten minute symphonic metal classic. Check it out!

Entry 64-- "Cemeteries of London"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, October 3, 2011 | 4:22 AM

Song: "Cemeteries of London"
Artist: Coldplay
http://youtu.be/6zkMwEDLBks
Comments: One of my favourite songs off the album "Viva la Vida." This song is a nice, relaxing way to start the week.

Entry 63-- "Waiting for the End"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, September 30, 2011 | 4:38 AM

Song: "Waiting for the End"
Artist: Linkin Park
http://youtu.be/5qF_qbaWt3Q
Comments: This song is a single of the album "A Thousand Suns." Despite it sounding nothing like the 'old' Linkin Park, I like the album, and this song in particular. For what it's worth, I also think the video is pretty cool.

Entry 62-- "Teenage Dream"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, September 29, 2011 | 4:35 AM

Song: "Teenage Dream"
Artist: Katy Perry
http://youtu.be/98WtmW-lfeE
Comments: More and more, I realize that what actually goes on this blog isn't so much a song that's stuck in my head, but a song I want people to hear. Who am I to judge that? So, time to go back to basics. This song is stuck in my head, and that's what this blog is about. Hopefully you like it, and it gets stuck in yours too.

Entry 61-- "Electroman"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 | 5:03 AM

Song: "Electroman"
Artist: Benny Benassi feat. T-Pain
http://youtu.be/HAejck2XKSw
Comments: This has been stuck in my head on and off for three days-- it's incredibly addicting. Have fun!

Entry 60-- "It's What I Want"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 | 4:44 AM

Song: "It's What I Want"
Artist: Royksopp
http://youtu.be/TzfEKmO4V4o
Comments: What I want-- several more hours of sleep. As this song says, however: "It's what I want that's easy. It's getting it that's complicated." Anyway, I couldn't decide between this song, "Tricky Tricky" by Royksopp, or "Teardrop" by Massive Attack, but after listening to this song on my way to grab breakfast, I decided to use this one. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Entry 59-- "Percussion Gun"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, September 26, 2011 | 4:59 AM

Song: "Percussion Gun"
Artist: White Rabbits
http://youtu.be/SoF_ed_M_wk
Comments: White Rabbits is a relatively obscure band, obscure enough that I've heard a grand total of three of their songs, all three of which I love. White Rabbits have a very, very distinct sound, which comes through clearly in this song. Happy listening!

Entry 58-- New Spins Week, Part 5: "The Time (Dirty Bit)"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, September 23, 2011 | 5:45 AM

New Spins Week, Part 5
Song: "The Time (Dirty Bit)"
Artist: The Black Eyed Peas
Spin on: "Time of my Life" by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes
http://youtu.be/JwQZQygg3Lk (Spin)
http://youtu.be/QUoDaCH1MJM (Original)
Comments: Sorry I'm running a tad late today; I promise this won't become a regular occurance. This song was originally written for the movie "Dirty Dancing," recorded by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes in 1987. Twenty-three years later, The Black Eyed Peas went to town on this song, mixing it into their 'Dirty Bit' version. True to their musical style, the Peas made 'Dirty Bit' into a party-ready, electro-pop sounding, upbeat tune. While it retains most of the lyrics and the melody of the original, they are different enough to not be confused for each other after the first few seconds. 'Dirty Bit' is the essence of a good remix-- a switch of styles, a catchy new spin on the original beat, and in this case, a heaping spoonful of electronic goodness. Hopefully you enjoyed New Spins Week. If anyone has an idea for a new theme week, or a song they want me to use, let me know! Have a good weekend, and enjoy the song!

Entry 57-- New Spins Week, Part 4: "Feeling Good"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, September 22, 2011 | 7:35 AM

New Spins Week, Part 4
Song: "Feeling Good"
Artist: Muse
Spin on: "Feeling Good" by Nina Simone
http://youtu.be/5PN6egPgazA (Spin)
http://youtu.be/h8tuTSi6Sck (Original)
Comments: Sorry about the late post, everyone-- I'm pretty sick. But enough about me, this is a blog about music. Today's music: the song "Feeling Good." As best as I can tell, this song was originally done by Nina Simone, and covered by more artists than I care to name. (If I'm wrong about the original artist, let me know, and I'll post a correction.) Of all the versions and covers that I've encountered, I prefer the one by Muse. The megaphone used in the vocals is a nice touch, and I think it sounds really, really cool. I'd be interested to see if anyone reading this has a version of this song they like better. If you know a cover or a spin on this song you think people should hear, let me know and I'll pass it along. As a side note, the version I posted was recorded live at Wembley Stadium. If you want to hear the official, studio-perfect music video version, you can find it at http://youtu.be/CmwRQqJsegw. Enjoy the music!

Entry 56-- New Spins Week, Part 3: "Clocks"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 | 4:26 AM

New Spins Week, Part 3
Song: "Clocks"
Artist: Royksopp
Spin on: "Clocks" by Coldplay
http://youtu.be/OVPJMMwzIC8 (Spin)
http://youtu.be/vKw7yvoZ-Tg (Original)
Comments: Unlike the first two songs featured in this series, this song is a straight remix-- no sampling, no vocal alterations, just a pure remix of an existing song. I'm a pretty harsh critic of remixes, and finding one that I actually like is generally impossible, but this remix pulls it off with amazing style. Enjoy!

Entry 55-- New Spins Week, Part 2: "The Show Goes On"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 | 4:37 AM

New Spins Week, Part 2
Song: "The Show Goes On"
Artist: Lupe Fiasco
Spin on: "Float On" by Modest Mouse
http://youtu.be/Rmp6zIr5y4U (Spin)
http://youtu.be/CTAud5O7Qqk (Original)
Comments: This is not the first time I've mentioned the original song in this entry-- I covered it way back in Entry 31 (http://stuckinmyskull.blogspot.com/2011/08/entry-31-float-on.html). At the time, I was apprehensive and not totally convinced of the value of this spin. Sure, it has a feel-good message that a bunch of people out there undoubtedly benefit from and need to hear, but I wasn't sure if it musically lived up to the awesomeness of the original. After some consideration-- and a lot of time in which this song grew on me-- I've decided it does. This song is interesting as a spin because, unlike several of the songs that I'm going to use this week, it doesn't vocally sample the original, and edits the beats it does sample quite a bit. But I digress from my music nerd spiel-- enjoy the song!

Entry 54-- New Spins Week, Part 1: "Stronger"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, September 19, 2011 | 4:27 AM

New Spins Week, Part 1
Song: "Stronger"
Artist: Kanye West
Spin on: "Harder, Faster, Better, Stronger" by Daft Punk
http://youtu.be/PsO6ZnUZI0g (Spin)
http://youtu.be/gAjR4_CbPpQ (Original)
Comments: Welcome to New Spins week-- a five-day series of awesome remixes and the songs they came from. Today's song-- Kanye West's "Stronger", a mix on the Daft Punk song "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger."
Now, there's a story here. I used to truly hate "Stronger." I was always saying "Kanye got ahold of a Daft Punk song and screwed it up, and now people like his piece of crap better." I got over that, for a few reasons. First, I grew up. Second, I quit hating Kanye and his entire genre. Third and most importantly, I realized that starting at 0:45, Kanye is thanking Daft Punk in song for the original version. Having gotten over my hate, I started really enjoying this song, and I hope that you will too.

Entry 53-- "Butterflies and Hurricanes"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, September 16, 2011 | 4:27 AM

Song: "Butterfiles and Hurricanes"
Artist: Muse
http://youtu.be/YDsLKEado_o
Comments: Oh, Muse. More importantly, Matt Bellamy's falsetto is just so ridiculous. One note of that voice, and you know you're listening to Muse. I love this song. I'd put the actual music video up, but it's so quiet you can't really hear the song, so I opted for the live version instead. Enjoy, and have a good weekend!

Entry 52-- "Memento Mori"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, September 15, 2011 | 4:22 AM

Song: "Memento Mori"
Artist: Kamelot
Comments: I hate doing this, but I'm using one of my favourite songs ever as filler. As I write this, I feel incredibly terrible, and am quite simply not up to writing anything verbose or covering anything new. "Memento Mori" is an excellent song, but long. Enjoy!

Entry 51-- "Mr. Saxobeat"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 | 4:14 AM

Song: "Mr. Saxobeat"
Artist: Alexandra Stan
http://youtu.be/lAhHNCfA7NI
Comments: "You make me move, Mr. Saxobeat." I have no idea how this song didn't come to my attention sooner, and I can thank my friend Marilyn for making sure that I didn't miss it completey. This song is epic-- unbelievably catchy, and very well done. The beat is original and the lyrics, while trite, flow wonderfully.

Also, I now have over 50 entries and 600 views. Holy synthesizers. Thank you all so much-- you are awesome! As always, if you know a song, let me know!

Entry 50-- "Don't Fear the Reaper"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 | 4:40 AM

Song: "Don't Fear the Reaper"
Artist: Blue Oyster Cult
http://youtu.be/AUO_5EALZoM
Comments: I woke up this morning, and I wasn't across the room to my alarm clock before this song was stuck in my head. Congrats, song, you just jumped the cue and went immediately to blog. Beautiful song-- check it out.

Entry 49-- "On Mercury"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, September 12, 2011 | 4:13 AM

Song: "On Mercury"
Artist: Red Hot Chili Peppers
http://youtu.be/30_bPABzm9E
Comments: This song is so unbelievably catchy-- and it has a trumpet that I just can't get enough. RHCP are masters of their craft, and this song clearly and oh, so beautifully reflects that. "Lemon trees on mercury..."

Entry 48-- "Strobe"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, September 9, 2011 | 4:25 AM

Song: "Strobe"
Artist: Deadmau5
http://youtu.be/tKi9Z-f6qX4
Comments: Somehow, when I was first learning about the wonderful world of electronic music, I managed to miss Deadmau5. I don't know how. And after listening to this song, I regret not learning about Deadmau5 sooner-- "Strobe" is simply beautiful. Heads up-- if you're short on time, listen later; Strobe is a long song. Enjoy your weekend!

Entry 47-- "Where I Belong"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, September 8, 2011 | 4:25 AM

Entry 47
Song: "Where I Belong"
Artist: Adrian von Ziegler
http://youtu.be/fV8OLvK4zxg
Comments: I love this song. A good friend of mine showed me this artist, and I quite promptly fell in love. Insturmental, and a major change from my usual listening material, but totally amazing.

Entry 46-- "Can't Stop"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 | 5:00 AM

Song: "Can't Stop"
Artist: Red Hot Chili Peppers
http://youtu.be/BfOdWSiyWoc

Entry 45-- "Lateralus"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 | 4:30 AM

Song: "Lateralus"
Artist: Tool
http://youtu.be/wS7CZIJVxFY (Awesome, somewhat educational video)
http://youtu.be/EDlC7oG_2W4 (Normal video)
Comments: The first video listed is actually someone's project for a class explaining the Fibonacci sequence in the song, and is completely amazing, more than a little shocking, and has some really epic pictures from the Hubble Space Telescope. The second video is just trippy. The song is amazing-- enjoy!

Entry 44-- "Rainbow Veins"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, September 5, 2011 | 4:24 AM

Song: "Rainbow Veins"
Artist: Owl City
http://youtu.be/kkgMd5bm_w8
Comments: I find that this song, and the artist in general, have a tendency to be rather polarizing-- either you love or hate Owl City. I fall into the 'love' category, and I woke up with this stuck in my head. That works out quite nicely, as I didn't have a post planned for today. This song was my first exposure to Owl City, and it turned me on to a wonderful artist-- I invite you to listen to this song and see what you think! To my US readers-- happy Labor Day!

Entry 43-- "In the Dark"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, September 2, 2011 | 4:21 AM

Song: "In the Dark"
Artist: Tiesto
http://youtu.be/6Qlz_Y4R4ok
Comments: I'm fairly sure Christian Burns should be getting recognition for this song-- at least in part-- but he doesn't show up as a featured artist or anything, so I'm going to go with the official version and not put him in the Artist block. This song is epic-- one of my all time favourite songs in the genre-- hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I do!

Entry 42-- "Scatman"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, September 1, 2011 | 4:16 AM

Song: "Scatman"
Artist: John Scatman
http://youtu.be/Geiq0FP13uQ

Entry 41-- "I Need a Doctor"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 | 4:28 AM

Song: "I Need a Doctor"
Artist: Dr. Dre ft. Eminem, Sklyar Grey
http://youtu.be/VA770wpLX-Q
Comments: Another song I didn't intend to use, that I'm posting because it popped into my head. "I Need a Doctor" is a pretty good song, with a definitely interesting video-- enjoy!

Entry 40-- "Violet Hill"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 | 4:16 AM

Song: "Violet Hill"
Artist: Coldplay
http://youtu.be/IakDItZ7f7Q
Comments: The other smash hit from their album Viva la Vida (the other being the song "Viva la Vida"), "Violet Hill" gets a good deal less media attention and radio play, but is still wildly popular-- for good reason. This song is nothing short of epic.

Entry 39-- "Point/Counterpoint"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, August 29, 2011 | 4:34 AM

Song: "Point/Counterpoint"
Artist: Streetlight Manifesto
http://youtu.be/TgyZmERlzmQ (album version, with lyrics)

Comments: Oh, ska. You crazed, beautiful genre. Oh, Streetlight Manifesto, you crazed, beautiful band. There are no other words. Just check this out.

Entry 38-- "Ghosts 'n' Stuff"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, August 26, 2011 | 4:10 AM

Song: "Ghosts 'n' Stuff"
Artist: Deadmau5
http://youtu.be/tU-VA3BYzmg
Comments: Deadmau5's (pronounced "dead mouse") uber-hit is a classic of electronic music, and totally worth the listen. IF you like what you hear, listen to more of his stuff.

Entry 37-- "The Hardest Button to Button"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, August 25, 2011 | 7:32 AM

Song: "The Hardest Button to Button"
Artist: The White Stripes
http://youtu.be/gLESpHrtvxs

Sorry for the late post!

Entry 36-- Children of the Sandstorm

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 | 4:29 AM

Song: "Children of the Sandstorm"
Artist: Darude vs. Robert Miles
http://youtu.be/KFF_ix03Ohs
Comments: Holy synthesizers, this blog now has over 500 hits! I cannot thank you enough, person who is reading this-- you are amazing. In thanks, I give you my favourite techno/electronic mashup ever-- a mix of Darude's "Sandstorm" and Robert Miles' "Children." Enjoy!

Entry 35-- "Angels"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 | 4:29 AM

Song: "Angels"
Artist: Within Temptation
http://youtu.be/VK9qfVQ4Z04
Comments: I love this song. It might be that I'm a sucker for the combo of operatic-style lyrics over crazy metal instrumentation, or maybe that I just like the sound, but whatever the reason, I love this song, and hopefully you will too.

Entry 34-- "This Light Between Us"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, August 22, 2011 | 4:19 AM

Song: "This Light Between Us"
Artist: Armin van Buuren ft. Christian Burns
http://youtu.be/v42cqJa_Ras
Comments: Happy Monday, everybody! This song is one I recently discovered when I was trying to diversify my tastes in trance-- I'm a notorious Tiesto addict, and Armin seemed like as good of a place as any to start. In this number, Armin provides the beats while Christian Burns (a name Tiesto fans will recognize from the song "In the Dark") provides the vocals. A good (and catchy) song-- check it out!
In other news, the posting schedule of this blog has changed slightly! I am pleased to announce that content will now be posted earlier in the day! Hopefully, this makes your reading easier, dear audience. What has not changed is my need for feedback-- your thoughts (and songs!) are always welcome, so drop me a line! Happy Monday!

Entry 33-- "Firework"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, August 19, 2011 | 6:13 AM

Song: "Firework"
Artist: Katy Perry
http://youtu.be/QGJuMBdaqIw
Comments: I was going to do a song by Pink, but ended up deciding in favor of this song for a few reasons. 1) The title requires bleeping out (think small children, and I have no content warnings up) and I don't feel like it. 2) Nowhere did I say that any song is one you won't have heard before. 3) I'm a fan of Katy Perry. That said, "Firework." The song is popular, gets way too much radio play, and is totally worth a listen (and a watch) anyway. Lastly, this song is perfect to conclude the "Feel Good Song Week." Enjoy, and happy weekend!

Entry 32-- "Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast)"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, August 18, 2011 | 7:15 AM

Song: "Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast)"
Artist: Lost Prophets
http://youtu.be/-z5FWlUN1go
Comments: I've decided that this is basically "Feel Good Songs Week." That said, this motivational ditty is epic. I mean, every time I hear this, I get chills, and when the guitar solos (or maybe the correct term is 'breaks?') at about 2:30, I always feel my spirit lifting, taking flight, soaring away. This song is good-- check it out!

Entry 31-- "Float On"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 | 7:17 AM

Song: "Float On"
Artist: Modest Mouse
http://youtu.be/CTAud5O7Qqk
Comments: This entry goes out to a certain person I call Roza-- you know who you are. Anyway, this song, recently mixed by Lupe Fiasco into the song "The Show Goes On," is truly classic. To anyone who finds this because of Lupe Fiasco, welcome to the world of feel-good music. To all others, I give you a classic that you probably shouldn't forget-- it's a great song for when you or someone you know is down and the dumps and really needs their spirits lifted.

Thank you!

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 | 7:09 AM

So as I check my hit counter, I noticed that this blog has over 400 hits! I'm stunned! Thank you to my awesome audience!

Entry 30-- "Just Be"

Song 1: "Just Be"
Artist: Tiesto
http://youtu.be/qEYueRVuqmg
Song 2: "PINK FLUFFY UNICORNS DANCING ON RAINBOWS"
Artist: SongsToWearPantsTo
http://youtu.be/eWM2joNb9NE

Comments: Sorry for the missed entry yesterday, folks-- I was up until 3:00 AM the previous night feeling crummy, and was both busy and completely beat all morning and most of the afternoon yesterday. So to make up for it, double entry! The first song is amazing-- vocal trance at its finest. Beautiful song, beautiful video. The second song is just for laughs-- and freakishly catchy. If it gets stuck in your head... I'm sorry.

Entry 29-- "Another Way to Die"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, August 12, 2011 | 8:13 AM

Song: "Another Way to Die"
Artist: Jack White ft. Alicia Keys
http://youtu.be/icrNkmf9uyQ
Comments: The themesong of the James Bond film "Quantum of Solace," "Another Way to Die" is a good song in its own right. There is quite a bit of discrepancy on what order the artists go in, and how they should be listed. To be quite blunt, I settled on "Jack White ft. Alicia Keys" because I hear so much more Jack White than Alicia Keys. If you strongly object or have some sort of conclusive evidence in the debate, kindly drop a comment or shoot me an email.

Entry 28-- "The Haunting (Somewhere in Time)"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, August 11, 2011 | 8:08 AM

Song: "The Haunting (Somewhere in Time)"
Artist: Kamelot
http://youtu.be/XvI5w0cG68o
Comments: As promised, not an electronic song today! This is one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite bands in one of my favourite genres. There is a video to this song, but it's not the greatest thing ever, and the quality is a tad low, so I decided to dispense with it and just paste in the link to the album version. Enjoy!

Entry 27-- "Beautiful Day Without You"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 | 9:05 AM

Song: "Beautiful Day Without You"
Artist: Royksopp
http://youtu.be/nww7ywDLzY0
Comments: Sorry this is going up so late. I really hate doing two electronic songs in a row, but I feel as though this is different enough from "Children" to make up for it. Also, I promise that tomorrow won't be a third electronic song. Right, so-- this song is one of my all-time favourite songs, holding both a great deal of sentimental value to me, and my praise as an excellent song in general. The video, too, should not be missed.

Entry 26-- "Children"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 | 8:09 AM

Artist: Robert Miles
http://youtu.be/NRCkAumK5b4
Comments: I've been wanting to do this song for the longest time, and I couldn't decide whether to use this version or a mashup of this and another song, which is hands down the best mashup I've ever heard. Obviously, I chose this song. The mashup will get its own entry, maybe tomorrow. This song is pure trance-- nothing but beautiful electronic noise. I love it.

Entry 25-- "Nemo"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, August 8, 2011 | 8:11 AM

Song: "Nemo"
Artist: Nightwish
http://youtu.be/qUTTA2X74N4
Comments: Symphonic metal at its very best, "Nemo" is one of the finer works of Nightwish. If you cannot understand the operatic lyrics, I recommend looking them up. Also, I posted an entry over the weekend as a thank you for 300 hits: check it out! http://stuckinmyskull.blogspot.com/2011/08/entry-24-boom-boom-guetta.html

Entry 24-- "Boom Boom Guetta"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Saturday, August 6, 2011 | 6:02 PM

Song: "Boom Boom Guetta"
Artist: The Black Eyed Peas and David Guetta
http://youtu.be/meXgTQy5jEY (Clean, music video)
http://youtu.be/sIhoZ6jKPiY (Explicit)
Comments: Holy wow, this blog has over 300 hits! As a special thank you to my awesome audience, I've decided to put up a weekend post. Boom Boom Guetta has the distinction of being one of the best remixes I've ever heard. I prefer the Explicit version (second link) over the Clean version (first link) for two reasons: A) I do not, under any circumstances, approve of song censorship, and B) the first video, while cool, feels like an advertisement for HP. That said, unlike many remixes, this doesn't have major structural changes to the song as compared to the original. It feels much more club-like, but considering that it's by David Guetta, that's hardly surprising. All in all, an excellent song-- check it out!

Entry 23-- "Beat That My Heart Skipped"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, August 5, 2011 | 8:07 AM

Song: "Beat That My Heart Skipped"
Artist: Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip
http://youtu.be/ESvYRR1Fyug
Comments: From the geniuses that brought you Entry 3's "Thou Shalt Always Kill"-- this song is another exercise in tongue twisters, dispensed by the oddball, excellent British duo. One of the things that always strikes me about this song is how simple the beat is, and yet the lyrics make it feel much more complicated. Check it out.

Entry 22-- "Schism"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, August 4, 2011 | 8:14 AM

Song: "Schism"
Artist: Tool
http://youtu.be/UhjG47gtMCo
Comments: Be warned-- this video is WEIRD. That said, the lyrics to this song are as deep as the video is odd. My personal theory is that the song is referencing the Great Schism between the Roman Catholic chuch and the Orthodox church in the Middle Ages. Of course, Tool being Tool, it could mean anything.

Entry 21-- "In and Out of Love"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 | 8:11 AM

Song: "In and Out of Love"
Artist: Armin van Buuren featuring Sharon von Adel
http://youtu.be/TxvpctgU_s8
Comments: Sharon von Adel-- lead singer of the symphonic metal band Within Temptation-- does a stunning job of providing vocals for this track by the legendary Armin van Buuren. There's a reason I use adjectives like this-- check it out!

Entry 20-- "Little Bad Girl"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 | 8:11 AM

Song: "Little Bad Girl"
Artist: David Guetta feat. Taio Cruz and Ludacris
http://youtu.be/9ha5ujHnYXg
Comments: HOLY TWENTIETH POST, BATMAN! So, I have a notion not to include new, popular songs. However, the title of this blog is "Stuck in My Skull," and has this song ever lived up to that... Listen at your own risk-- it's incredibly catchy.

Entry 19-- "Viva la Vida (Telemitry Remix)"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, August 1, 2011 | 8:12 AM

Song: "Viva la Vida (Telemitry Remix)"
Artist: Coldplay
http://youtu.be/LSNyWGc0gsU
Comments: Remixes of popular songs are a dime a dozen, and usually suck. Let's face it-- a good remix happens infrequently, compared to the sheer number of remixes that spam the internet. So when a really, really good remix comes about, take advantage of it, love it, and spread it just as far as you can folks. Telemitry, I've never heard of you, but you have my compliments-- well done.

Entry 18-- "Stereo Love" and Site Update!

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Saturday, July 30, 2011 | 10:23 AM

Song: "Stereo Love"
Artist: Edward Maya and Vika Jigulina
http://youtu.be/p-Z3YrHJ1sU
Comments: I love this song. A friend of mine (you know who you are) showed me this song awhile back, and I fell in love with it.  The song has a sort of Mediterranean sound to it, which I find wholly appropriate to the video. The beat is catchy, the lyrics are epic, and the song as a whole is great. Check it out.

So, yesterday this blog reached 200 hits! That's an amazing milestone, and I can't thank you guys enough. At this point, I've basically decided that I'm going to try and update the blog every weekday, so this will be the last Saturday post, and no post tomorrow. Also, I'm going to do my friends a favor and quit spamming Facebook every time I post. Basically, bookmark this blog and make sure to check it every weekday! If you have a song you want me to feature, let me know!

Entry 17-- "Loca"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, July 29, 2011 | 8:18 AM

Song: "Loca"
Artist: Shakira
http://youtu.be/KewfYKJy8YU (English Version)
http://youtu.be/XAhTt60W7qo (Spanish Version)
Comments: If you are fluent in Spanish, or just don't mind listening to songs in another language, I highly recommend listening to the Spanish version. The English version loses a certain something in translation, like the ability to be euphimistic. "Soy loca con mi tigre" sounds so much better (if slightly less entertaining) than "I'm crazy but you're naked."

Entry 16-- "Jar of Hearts" and Site Update

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, July 28, 2011 | 10:13 AM

Song: Jar of Hearts
Artist: Christina Perri
http://youtu.be/8v_4O44sfjM
Comments: I originally heard this song being performed on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and endeavored without success to find a video of that perfomance. Don't get me wrong, the music video is well done and moving, but it fails to give me chills the same Ms. Perri's voice did the first time I heard this song. Well, as many chills, anyway.

In unrelated news, I added a search bar to the site, so if you're looking for something in particular, you can quickly see if I have it-- I've tried to tag every entry with at least the artist name and song title, so searching should be easier. If I don't have what you're looking for, let me know! I'm always open to feedback and new ideas.

Entry 15-- "Feel It In My Bones"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 | 9:23 AM

Song: "Feel It In My Bones"
Artist: Tiesto ft. Tegan and Sara
http://youtu.be/GQQhibVx5eE
Comments: Tiesto and these terrific twins ('scuse the alliteration) make a truly epic song and put in to a prety darn cool video. Definitely worth checking this out.

Entry 14-- "Can't Stop"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 | 11:46 AM

Song: "Can't Stop"
Artist: Red Hot Chili Peppers
http://youtu.be/BfOdWSiyWoc
Comments: Sorry this is going up so late. I can't stop listening to this song. Catchy. Beautiful. A hint of deeper-than-surface-level meaning. Hillarious video. What else does a song need?

Entry 13-- "Icky Thump"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, July 25, 2011 | 9:53 AM

Song: "Icky Thump"
Artist: The White Stripes
http://youtu.be/1OjTspCqvk8
Comments: A classic song by a classic band, "Icky Thump" is one of the many reasons I wish The White Stripes hadn't broken up. A slightly political song, but one that makes a valid point nevertheless. The video is also pretty awesome.

Entry 12 -- "Judas (Royksopp Remix)"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Sunday, July 24, 2011 | 11:14 AM

Song: "Judas (Royksopp Remix)"
Artist: Lady Gaga
http://youtu.be/-mis3TyDeTQ
Comments: This is one of my favourite two remixes of this song. The mood of the music is completely different than the original. I think the Norwegian duo does this well.
Also, for any who missed it, there was a late night update last night: http://stuckinmyskull.blogspot.com/2011/07/entry-11-revisit-hide-and-seek-tiesto.html

Entry 11 -- Revisit: "Hide and Seek (Tiesto Remix)"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Saturday, July 23, 2011 | 8:59 PM

Song: "Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek (Tiesto Remix)"
Artist: Tiesto
http://youtu.be/tOUUx3f555I
Comments: Emergency Music Update! I had decided that I was going to go to posting once daily as a general rule, and decided to announce as much in the morning, but then this song was brought to my attention. I was completely unaware that Tiesto had remixed this song. Thank you, YouTube, for showing me this. It is epic, on so many levels. Yes, it loses the quiet, haunting quality the original song had, but gains an entirely new feel. I wouldn't compare the songs side-by-side for fear of not doing one of them justice, but I feel comfortable saying that they are both amazing in their own way.

Entry 10-- "Better Half of Me"

Song: "Better Half of Me"
Artist: Dash Berlin
http://youtu.be/-3jrdMIOKvQ
Comments: Another song recommended to me by my friend Marilyn, I cheerfully admit that I've never really listened to Dash Berlin. After hearing this song, that will change. The moral of the story is: If you know good music, tell people about it. (Especially me, because I'll put it here.)

Also, this blog has over 100 hits! Thanks to everyone who reads this! You are amazing!

Entry 9-- "Clubbed to Death"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, July 22, 2011 | 9:24 AM

Song: "Clubbed to Death"
Artist: Escala
http://youtu.be/pM5g4i7VjDE
Comments: Recommended to me by my friend Marilyn, Escala is a very good string quartet hailing from England. This song is pretty darn epic, and I had to include it here. It jumped the queue it was so good. Today was going to be something completely different, but now that I poke around YouTube, I'm discovering that Escala has covered the song that I was going to do as well (http://youtu.be/mj3bL4sLx7s). In addition, they have covered a slew of songs I'm familiar with, and listening to just a few of them (links below), I should amend my description of the band: Escala is a very good, very prolific string quartet hailing from England. Check them out.

Other Songs I Listened To:
http://youtu.be/y3CJhISQMbs (Live and Let Die)
http://youtu.be/tPCmERgVAO0 (Kashmir)
http://youtu.be/L2PWoil_5O8 (Adagio for Strings)

Entry 8-- "Hide and Seek"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, July 21, 2011 | 1:34 PM

Song: "Hide and Seek"
Artist: Imogen Heap
http://youtu.be/ay8fE6B_a0g
Comments: Not feeling well, and not at all up to writing a post of any length today. This song speaks for itself, though: a bold statement of beautiful, synthesized vocals.

Entry 7-- "Starlight"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 | 1:35 PM

Song: "Starlight"
Artist: Muse
http://youtu.be/Pgum6OT_VH8
Comments: Yet another excellent song. I find myself recognizing this song almost immediately, every time I hear it played. Definitely worth a listen.

Entry 6-- "Day 'N' Night"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 | 4:16 PM

Song: "Day 'N' Night"
Artist: Kid Cudi
http://youtu.be/VrDfSZ_6f4U
Comments: This is an excellent song, with a provoking video. Quite honestly, not much more to say. Good beat, gets stuck in my head, and I'm too tired to post more.

Entry 5-- "Lethal Industry"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, July 18, 2011 | 7:03 PM

Song: "Lethal Industry"
Artist: Tiesto
http://youtu.be/pYU0TVe4LWY (album)
http://youtu.be/_Nnh0LuhLag (Live, starting about 4:00)
Comments: I love this song. If you get bored on YouTube, you can track down a version featuring a guitarist playing live in mid-set, which is just as epic. The two versions here are both worth a listen, and carry themselves well on their own merits. The first one is significantly shorter, being the album version, but is guaranteed to have you dancing. Or at least, it's guaranteed to have me dancing. The second version is from a concert Tiesto gave for Queensday in his native country, to the thrill of all, I am sure. "Lethal Industry" starts about four minutes in, after the tail end of "Moonlight Party," if I am hearing it correctly.

Unrelated Comment: I've tentatively settled on a twice-daily pattern of updates. At some point, I'll slow down, either when I get bored or the blog picks up a stable following. (Yes, I am that vain.) Vanity aside, having a greater base of content means the blog is more robust and more likely to be noticed.

Entry 4-- "Wishmaster"

Song: "Wishmaster"
Artist: Nightwish
http://youtu.be/tLW7wJvdFSI (Original Lyrics)
http://youtu.be/gg5_mlQOsUQ (Misheard Lyrics)
Comments: This song holds the dubious honour of having the most often misheard lyrics of any song I know, thanks in large part to the opera-like vocals of the (not coincidentally) opera-trained lead singer Tarja Turunen. I felt the need to post a video of the lyrics, rather than an actual music video so that readers not familiar with the band could actually understand what was being said, and in doing so, found the Misheard version. I couldn't resist copying down that link as well. After more than a day of having the song stuck in my head (in a fiendish combination of the true and misheard lyrics), I decided I had to post it. (To any fans of the band who intend to pose the typical "What do you think of Anette Olzon, the new singer?" my answer is: I like them both, for different reasons.)

Entry 3-- "Thou Shalt Always Kill"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Sunday, July 17, 2011 | 7:27 PM

Song: "Thou Shalt Always Kill"
Artist: Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip
http://youtu.be/yoN6XfyQsr4
Comments: Another favourite of mine, this song is a long list of things that I (generally) agree with. Most importantly: Thou shalt not require Dan le Sac and Scroobius Pip to tell you these things. (Almost as important as "Thou Shalt Not Make Repetitive, Generic Comments on YouTube.") I should note that "kill" in this song is used in the sense of "I just killed that math test," and not "I just took a gun and killed that guy."

Entry 2-- Muse- Resistance (Voices In Your Head a cappella cover)

Song: "Muse- Resistance [A Cappella]"
Artist: Voices In Your Head
http://youtu.be/fzuQ9-KlRDE
Comments: A certain friend of mine introduced me to this video some time ago. Voices In Your Head is University of Chicago's A Cappella group, and I think they do a marvelous job in producing both the music and the accompanying video in this cover of Muse's "Resistance."

Entry 1-- Motorcylce- As the Rush Comes (Tiesto Remix)

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Saturday, July 16, 2011 | 10:36 PM

Entry 1
Song: "Motorcylce- As the Rush Comes" (Tiesto Remix)
Artist: Tiesto
http://youtu.be/rv3EY4k3yrY
Comments: A longtime favourite of mine. There are tons of mixes, but I prefer the Tiesto version, which is the most trance-like of the bunch. The original is very good, as is the Gabriel & Dresden mix.
